Pride 2025: A message from our board chair

Hey yall!

Another awesome Pride in the books! Thank you so much for showing up in Carman despite the weather!

This year had a bit more of a somber tone than we’ve had in the past. There’s a lot that factors into that, but I think first and foremost it’s important to recognize that this is the state of queer life right now. We’re lucky in Manitoba, but our queer siblings in other provinces and in the US are going through the stages of genocide at the hands of their governments. We are not free until we are all free, and I promise you this is something that’s weighing on the minds of your queer friends and family members. It’s really, really hard to be a queer person right now, but we’re not going anywhere. We will continue to be here for all of it

Our speakers this year did a wonderful job balancing the reality of the world we’re in. Thank you for sharing your hearts and vulnerability with us.

To our queer community members, I hope that you were able to find some joy and love this weekend!

To our allies who showed up, thank you for being there when it’s less of a party.

To Prairie Soundscapes and Callum, thank you for sharing your voices with us!

To our drag performers and A Band Named Chloe, I’m so sorry we didn’t get to see you perform at our main event! Thank you for your work the whole day!

To our vendors, thanks for bracing against the wind and for your support!

I also need to give a special shout out to our wonderful sponsors. Please go look back at our sponsor posts and show some love to those who have supported us!! There are many organizations who have been struggling to find support lately, because of shifting priorities that have been no doubt influenced by the political climate we’re currently in. This year? We had the most sponsorship we’ve ever had, both in number and in dollar amount. Words cannot express how grateful I am to know that we have so many people and businesses willing to support what we do.

It’s an honour and a privilege to continue to do what we do and make an impact in so many communities in the Pembina Valley.

See you on June 21 in Manitou for our open mic! For a full updated list of events, visit the calendar page!
